Ethan Hicken (New Glasgow) and Hailey Bland (Lakeview) picked up feature victories in the Bluenose Pools Bandolero division on Finale Friday.

Hicken picked up the heldover feature from September 6th. Hicken started on the pole, a spot he would not relinquish en route to his second win of the season in Halifax. Bella Pashkoski (Beaver Bank) and Hailey Bland (Lakeview) chased the No. 5 in the late laps but a mechanical failure on the No. 27 allowed Avery DeCoste (Antigonish) to sneak by for third as the top two raced to the flag. Bland was fourth with Bristol Matthews (Nine Mile River) fifth.

Two feature races for “the BEST Four Cylinder Drivers in Atlantic Canada” resulted in two different feature winners – though both were familiar faces to The Tire Man Victory Lane.

Chris Drover (Lower Sackville) captured his third win of the year in the heldover feature from September 6th while Travis Keefe (Gold River) won his second of the season in the second round of the evening for the Mini Stocks. Both drivers ended up on the podium in both events.

Drover started 12th in the first race and was to the lead by Lap 10 around Jason Pickles (Meaghers Grant) following a pair of cautions in the first handful of laps. Drover went uncontested in the final 15-laps though Dave Matthews (Nine Mile River) was closing in in the final laps. Matthews would end up failing post race technical inspection, giving Darren Hodder (Beaver Bank) a second place run with Keefe third. Point leader Ross Moore (Lake Egmont) was fourth with Pickles fifth.

Double features for the Strictly Hydraulics Legends brought a first time winner and a winner that returned to victory lane for the first time this season.

In the September 6th heldover feature, it was Nathan Langille (Coldbrook) with a long overdue first victory in a Legend car at Scotia Speedworld.

Langille took the lead on Lap Nine after Danny Chisholm (Port Williams) encountered problems with his Legend car and had to surrender the lead. Langille would not let the lead go in the caution free affair and raced to the victory by over a half straightaway. Chase Livingston (Springhill) was second while Chase MacKay (Bear Cove) held off Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction) for third after Christensen tried moving the No. 71m on the last lap. Campbell Delaney (Halifax) was fifth.

It was a big night at the Speedworld for Darren Hilchie!

The Lake Charlotte driver finally broke through in a big way, capturing the Superior Foundations Sportsman race to kick off Finale Friday, then coming home third to Russell Smith Sr (Lakeside) in the nightcap of a double header for the Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman.

Hilchie battled early in the heldover feature with Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville). The pair would make contact coming to a restart, resulting in Lively cutting a tire and ultimately bringing out a yellow three laps later on Lap 42.

The race would go green to checkered from there with Jeffrey Breen (Antigonish) hounding Hilchie for the lead, but could not find a way by the blue No. 85. The two drivers chasing their first Sportsman win pulled away from the battle for third at the end with Russell Smith Sr, Dylan Dowe (Bedford) and Darren Wallage (Oakfield) completing the top five.
