Superior Foundations Sportsman 100 & Kiddie Rides on Deck for Scotia Speedworld
(Halifax, NS – September 5, 2024) Its going to be another big night this Friday at Scotia Speedworld! Not only is it the final Kiddie Rides of the season, but fans will also be treated to a 100 laps of Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman racing in the rescheduled Superior Foundations 100, held over from Summer Clash 250 weekend. If that’s not enough the Toursec Mini Stocks, Strictly Hydraulics Legends and Bluenose Pools Bandoleros will also be on track Friday Night. Gates open at 5:00pm, Kiddie Rides will start at 7:00pm sharp so be sure to arrive early.
Up first on Friday is Kiddie Rides, an opportunity for kids to go for a ride around the track with their favourite Bay Equipment Rentals Weekly Racing Series drivers. The format for Kiddie Rides is simple and safe. Drivers bring their cars to the front stretch and park. Once all engines are stopped, the grandstand gate is opened, and children come onto the track and climb into their favorite car. When all children are safely in the cars, drivers are led around the track at a safe speed by the pace car. After a few laps, the cars are stopped; the children climb out and proceed back to their seats in the grandstand to enjoy the rest of the show.
The Superior Foundations 100 has long been a staple event on the Sportsman schedule in Halifax. Originally scheduled to be a part of the Summer Clash 250 weekend, the race was washed out in August and will run this Friday night! While the entry list is subject to change from the original running, part-timers like Phil Barkhouse Jr (Hammonds Plains), rookie Ashley Creelman (Truro) and even reigning track champion Jesse Deveau (Greenwood) have expressed their intent to compete on Friday night with our regular cast of Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman drivers. Last week, Matt Vaughan (Lantz) scored a convincing win in the AJK 50 and became the first driver not a part of Smith Brothers Racing to win a feature at the track this season. Russell Smith Sr (Lakeside) enters the race with a sizeable 36 point lead on both Alex Johnson (Enfield) and Dylan Dowe (Bedford), who are tied for second in the standings.
Adult Grandstand tickets for the Bay Equipment Rentals Weekly Racing Series are $20.00, Youth tickets (8-15yrs) are $5.00. 7 and under are FREE all season at Scotia Speedworld events! Tickets for the Pit area are $25.00.
