Maritime Auto Glass Beginner Bandoleros
Bristol Matthews (Nine Mile River) grabbed her third win of the season on Friday in the Maritime Auto Glass Beginner Bandoleros. Matthews, who won the heat race, started fifth in the field and would take the lead away on the third lap of the 12-lap feature. The winning pass was made on McKenna Little (Harrietsfield), who will maintain the championship point lead by a slim two points after eight races.

Little was second in the feature with Emma MacMillan (Maitland) rounding out the podium. Irelyn Rose (Halifax) and Shelby Chisholm (Antigonish) completed the top five. After two cautions on the opening lap, the Beginners ran 12 consecutive laps caution free.

The Maritime Auto Glass Beginner Bandoleros return to competition during Maritime Auto Glass Night on September 8th.

When it looked like Aaron Boutilier (Porters Lake) was going to steal a Toursec Mini Stock win in his first front wheel drive start, Steve Matthews (Bedford) proved why he is one of the best to strap in a four cylinder at Scotia Speedworld. Matthews recorded his third win in five races on Friday evening. The No. 98 Cora’s Bedford Dodge started eighth, worked up to second by the fifth lap and made the move on Boutilier, driving for Kyle Sinton (Truro), at the end of the 13th lap.

The race that went caution free saw Matthews win by a healthy margin over Boutilier, who finished well ahead of Dylan MacMillan (Maitland). Chad Sinton (Truro) gave MacMillan a run at the end but could not get by for the final podium position. Championship point leader Ross Moore (Lake Egmont) edged out Travis Keefe (Gold River) at the finish for fifth.
Marshall Bezanson (Oldham), Boutilier and Matthews took home heat wins.

Moore will carry a healthy lead in the standings into Maritime Auto Glass Night.

Josh Langille (Coldbrook) raced his way to second Strictly Hydraulics Legends win of the season Friday night at Scotia Speedworld. Langille started 10th in the 25-lap feature and while Owen Mahar (Hubley) set the early pace in the feature, it was the second last restart with ten laps to go that allowed Langille to take the lead. A final restart with two laps to go would see Langille retain the advantage and hold on for the victory.

Mahar would start outside of Langille on the final restart and would lead Lap 24, but Langille would grab the lead back in the final corners, relegating Mahar to second. Gage Gilby (Enfield) started 11th to finish third on the evening, edging out Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River) for the spot. Point leader Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction) would come home fifth on the green-white-checkered finish to the race.

JJ MacPhee (Yarmouth) picked up the first heat race on the evening for his first checkered flag in a Legend car. The reigning Toursec Thunder car champion was joined as a heat race winner by Mahar and Langille in the 20-car field.

Gilby was able to close the gap to tie Christensen with three point races left to go in the season.

After a wreck and point penalty the week prior, Pete Miller (Kennetcook) rebounded to take home his second CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series of the season. Miller is the first driver to win multiple Bay Equipment Rentals Late Model Sportsman feature contests in seven events. Miller started 11th in the 18 car field and ultimately took the lead from Sheldon Pemberton (Cole Harbour) on Lap 30 of the 38-lap feature. The final restart with six laps to go saw Scott O’Neill (Oakfield) challenge but Miller would clear the No. 96 with four laps remaining.
Darren Hilchie (Lake Charlotte) moved by O’Neill with two laps to go to slip into second with O’Neill third. Alex Johnson (Enfield) challenged for a podium run but would finish fourth with Pemberton fifth after leading the most laps in the feature.

Heat wins went to Dan Cameron (New Glasgow) and Johnson. For Cameron, it was his second consecutive week winning a heat race after picking up his first during the AJK 50.

Jesse Deveau (Greenwood), who finished sixth on the evening, maintains the championship point lead by 18 points over Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville) with four weeks remaining on the 2023 schedule.
