FACILITY INFORMATION

Summer of 2018 construction update: Click here...

Scotia Speedworld celebrated its grand opening in May 1988 - and was immediately tagged Atlantic Canada's Action Centre - a description that remains accurate as we enter the 2016 season - our 29th exciting year. Constant improvements have been made to keep with the times and the track has evolved from its original true oval configuration to the current D-shaped oval. As a result, the track is a favourite for racers and spectators near and far, indeed the premiere stock car racing facility in Eastern Canada and only fitting to host the premiere stock car races in Eastern Canada.

The racing surface is wide and fast, lending itself to door-handle-to-door-handle excitement for all divisions. The access and exit ramps between the pit area and the track, combined with a large staging area, make for congestion free transition "behind the scenes", keeping the show moving and your audience alert and receptive.

The addition of a paved pit road in the infield area in 1999 allows the fans to watch exciting pit-side action during special events from the comfort of their grandstand seat. Each year safety, competition or creature comforts are added or upgraded.

Location-Location-Location

Scotia Speedworld is conveniently located opposite Halifax Stanfield International Airport and is easily accessed from the adjacent Highway 102 - the main route to and from Halifax - the capital of Nova Scotia and largest city east of Montreal. More than 12 million cars pass Scotia Speedworld yearly, making it perhaps the highest profile auto racing facility in Eastern Canada.

Seating

The main grandstand comfortably seats more than 5,000 spectators while the separate pit grandstand another 1,000. Both areas provide a complete and constant view of the entire racing surface.

Parking

Free parking is plentiful for both the main grandstand and pit area. Additional parking space is available across the access road. Campers are welcome (no services) and take advantage of the invitation freely, with more than 100 units on hand for special events such as the Atlantic CAT 250 weekend.

Lighting

42,000 watts of brilliant glare free light ensures clarity of every detail during evening events.

Facilities

Scotia Speedworld's diverse facility makes it a favourite with folks of all ages. The main grandstand is the only racetrack in the Maritimes with comfortable backrests for ALL seats. The top story of the tower complex, which overlooks the main grandstand embankment, houses a V.I.P. SkyBox, a media work station, announcer and race control centers. The bottom level offers snack and souvenir stands as well as permanent rest rooms. The flat midway area surrounding the base of the tower complex is popular corporate display area. Separate facilities for competitors are located in the pit area.

Facility Rentals: Commercial Use & Team Practice

In addition to our primary function, hosting auto-racing entertainment, Scotia Speedworld is available for commercial rentals as well as for race team practice sessions. Click here for more information.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Scotia Speedworld has assisted in raising over $232,000 for local charities since 2002. An ongoing commitment over the past several years to the IWK Remedial Seating Program has seen more than $93,000 in contributions. The Dartmouth District Shrine Club handles all 50/50 ticket sales at Scotia Speedworld and recently acknowledged the venue as a primary source of fundraising for their Burn Units.
