McKenna Little (Williamswood) is now a four time winner in the Maritime Auto Glass Beginner Bandoleros after a dominating performance Friday evening to kick off the Summer Clash 250 weekend.

Little positioned herself in second outside of Irelyn Rose (Halifax) on a Lap Three restart and would not relinquish the lead en route to the win. After a trio of cautions slowed the opening laps, the Beginners found their groove and put down some green laps. Little worked lapped traffic and had Bristol Matthews (Upper Nine Mile River) close to within a car length but that was as close as the No. 99 got at the finish. Emma MacMillan (Maitland) was third for a second consecutive week with Shelby Chisholm (Antigonish) and Rose racing to top five runs in the nine car field.

Little picked up the heat win and would extend her point lead to six after seven races for the Maritime Auto Glass Beginner Bandoleros.

The Maritime Auto Glass Beginner Bandolero 12 took 13 minutes to complete.

When it looked like the Maritime Auto Glass Bandoleros were going to see a fifth different winner in as many races, Daniel Vandenburg (Lower Onslow) changed the tune and became the first two-time winner of the year. Vandenburg made the move on Hailey Bland (Lakeview) with four laps to go in the extended 20-lap feature and held on to take the win. Bland would come home second after leading the most laps in the race with Samantha MacDonald (Dartmouth) racing to her third podium of the season in five events after Brett Pashkoski (Beaver Bank) spun on the final corner battling for second. Landon Pierce (Bridgewater) came home fourth with Pashkoski coming across the line fifth.

Pashkoski took home the heat win.

Vandenburg vaults to a four point lead after his second feature win of the season over Pierce.

“Mr. Lightning on the Hill” Steve Matthews (Bedford) came through the shadows of the morning to take home his second Toursec Mini Stock feature win of 2023.

Dylan MacMillan (Maitland) looked poised to pick up his first career feature win, but a late race caution with eight laps to go changed the waters. Matthews, who restarted second, set up the winning pass down the backstraight on Lap 18, taking the lead for the final time the next lap and never looking back as he drove off into Saturday morning with the win. MacMillan held off Travis Keefe (Chester) for the runner-up spot after Keefe made a challenge over the last two laps for the spot. Reigning track champion Colin Matthews (Bedford) was fourth with sophomore Kyle Sinton (Truro) fifth.

MacMillan and Keefe picked up heat wins.
Point leader Ross Moore (Lake Egmont) had contact with another car in the second half of the feature and failed to finish the feature. His nearest competitor in points, Chad Sinton (Truro), suffered a mechanical problem to trigger the final caution of the race. While Moore’s lead is still 29 points, the battle between second and seventh is just eight points heading into the Toursec 50 on Friday, August 18th.

The Toursec Mini Stock 25 took 16 minutes to complete with the checkered flag falling shortly before 1:20am.

The Strictly Hydraulics Legends were the first of two divisions to go “Walkin’ After Midnight” on Saturday morning. The result was the same up front as it was the week prior as Dawson Noble (Upper Nine Mile River, NS) took home the feature victory. Noble started 14th on the 23 car field via his most recent feature victory. By Lap 10, he was sixth place and was fourth with 11 laps to go in the 25-lap feature. A rash of cautions at the mid stages of the race had young guns Tanton Wooldridge (Summerside, PE), Teagan Dempsey (Fredericton, NB) and Chase Livingston (Springhill, NS) battling it out for the win until Noble got to the front.

The win wasn’t without excitement as Noble and Wooldridge would come together coming to green on the restart, sending the field scattering with six laps to go. Noble would sprint out to the lead on a re-rack with five laps to go and hold the lead for the final laps to the checkered flag. Gage Gilby (Enfield), who started 13th on the field, finished second with Livingston, Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River, NS) and Wooldridge completing the top five.

Aiden MacDonald (York, PE), Dempsey and Gilby captured qualifying heat races.

The Strictly Hydraulics Legends feature took 47 minutes to complete with several multi-car incidents slowing the pace of the event.

Russell Smith Jr (Lakeside) reminded the Bay Equipment Rentals Sportsman field on Friday night that he still has their numbers in a 100-lap feature at his home track.

Smith Jr captured his sixth Superior Foundations 100 victory to kick off the Summer Clash 250 weekend presented by Superior Foundations and Atlantic Tiltload. Smith had to hold off Brady Creamer (Miramichi, NB) on a final restart with 12 laps to go to take home the crown jewel Sportsman win. The top two separated themselves from the pack behind fighting for third as Kyle Bent (Berwick, NS) held off a hard charging Pete Miller (Kennetcook, NS) for the final podium spot. Jesse Deveau (Greenwood, NS), who started at the back of the pack after contact with Miller sparked the final yellow, was fifth and the final car on the lead lap in the 23 car field.

Deven Smith (Lakeside) led the most laps in the feature, taking the lead on Lap Five from outside pole sitter Scott O’Neill (Oakfield). Deven ultimately surrendered the lead to his older brother on a Lap 64 restart. Deven would have a tire go down on the restart and his night would end on the next lap in Turn One in a multi-car accident.

Point contenders Alex Johnson (Enfield), Joey Livingstone (Pictou Landing) and Darren Hilchie (Lake Charlotte) all found trouble in the first two thirds of the event and failed to finish the Superior Foundations 100.

Harry Ross White (Noel Road), Deven Smith and Dylan Dowe (Bedford) took home heat wins.

The Superior Foundations 100 took one hour, 27 minutes to complete.

The Bay Equipment Rentals Late Model Sportsman are off this week before returning to finish off their season with five consecutive weeks of racing anchored by the AJK 50 on August 25th.
