Flagman Rob Bowness didn’t look as lonely as he did on opening night. There were people in the grandstands. The gates were thrown open to welcome the first 250 people to arrive on our doorstep. As per COVID-19 regulations, we could host a maximum of 250 people, if they displayed safe distancing and wore a mask.

Racing in COVID-19 is a bit different from what we are used to, but the on-track action is the same. Eight divisions of cars raced in five different classes, putting on a show for the fans.

In Sportsman cars, it started as Miller night. Pete Miller won the first heat and Wayne won the second heat. That put the 92 and 90 cars on the pole. The two battled for the lead, trying to pull away from each other. Deven Smith in the 94 car joined the party at the front and carefully and methodically passed each of the Miller cars to take the win in the feature.

The Legend division saw Sam Rogers in Braden Langille’s 51 drive to victory, as he worked his way past cars as he came through the field. Andrew Lively 15 and Devin Wadden 20 were tight on the 51 car looking for a way past, but couldn’t find it before the checkers flew.

The 4 Cylinder division should be called the COVID-19 division. It is made up of the Toursec Lightning and Thunder cars. These two groups of cars are battling all over the track. Jamie Dillman in the 158 was the winner when 25 laps of action were completed. Second place went to Travis Keefe 145 and Steven Matthews 198 grabbed third.

Bandolero action was fast and furious as these young drivers improve from week to week. Danny Chisholm drove the 87 car to first place. Chasing Chisholm to the finish line was Nathan Langille in the 3 car followed by Brooke Dowe in the 22.

Beginner bandolero saw a different winner. Daniel Vandenberg in car 97 took the checkered flag. Last week’s winner Chase Livingston was second in the 39 car. Brett Pashkoski  in car 45 rounded out the top three.
