WEEKLY RACING SERIES KICKS-OFF SEASON FINALE WEEKEND AT SCOTIA SPEEDWORLD

(Halifax, NS. September 5, 2012) Scotia Speedworld will close its 25th Anniversary Season this weekend with two days of championship racing! Friday night at 7:00 PM the Weekly Racing Series will crown champions in five divisions - the Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros, Jack Daniel’s Trucks, ACE Lumbermart Thunder & Lightning and the Strictly Hydraulics Legends. Saturday at 4:00 PM the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour returns to Scotia Speedworld for their season finale, the Dartmouth Dodge 200 - which will determine who walks away with the prestigious series title and the $10,000.00 championship cheque! The Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman will settle their championship prior to the Dartmouth Dodge 200 when they will take centre stage in a 50 lap feature.

Championship racing gets underway in style Friday night as Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake) looks to put his name in the history books as the first ever two-time series champion in the Hydraulics Plus Bandolero Division. Butcher, who is the reigning division champion heads into season finale weekend with a 23 point lead over Braden Langille (Shubenacadie) in his quest for back-to-back titles. Langille took second in points last week after his third feature win of the season and leads third place Cole Boudreau (Chipman, NB) by just a single point.

The Jack Daniel’s Truck Division has the closest championship battle heading into season finale weekend. Dan Smith (Lower Sackville) has a slim six point lead over 2011 division champion JP Arsenault (Church Point). Who takes home the ¼ ton title will be decided by their performances on Friday night.

The Strictly Hydraulics Legends Championship will also come down to on-track performance as rookie Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake) has a not-too-comfortable 19 point lead over former division champion Paul Blenkhorn (Truro). Butcher enters the season finale with the Wooden Door Bistro Rookie of Year title all wrapped up.

Jorden Smith (Lakeside, NS) claimed the ACE Lumbermart Lightning Division Championship last weekend, leaving the track with a 157 point lead over his closest competitor! The ACE Lumbermart Thunder Division Championship is Kyle MacMillian’s (Hammonds Plains) to lose. MacMillian has a solid 30 marker lead over Steve Lively (Shubenacadie) who remains in striking distance should MacMillian slip.

The Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman will decide their division champion on Saturday prior to the Dartmouth Dodge 200. Aaron Boutilier (Porter’s Lake) has a cool 48 point lead over Jordan Veinotte (Porter’s Lake) heading into finale weekend; however with a 50 lap feature still ahead Boutilier knows the title is not his just yet.

Don’t miss any of the action as Scotia Speedworld’s 25th Anniversary Season comes to a close this weekend - and seven champions emerge!
