In the back and forth battle between Shelby Chisholm (Antigonish) and Addison Veinotte (Porters Lake) in the Bluenose Pools Beginner class, it was Chisholm taking the first round back from the Mid Season Break.

Chisholm started on the outside of Veinotte on the final restart with four to go in the 12-lap feature and was able to get the lead away from the No. 11. Coming to the white flag, Veinotte was able to get under Chisholm and complete the pass as the pair raced down the back straight on the final lap. Chisholm crossed Veinotte over,  Veinotte slid on the outside enough for Chisholm to take the checkered flag first in a great battle!

Jake Campbell (Sydney) returned to the Speedworld to a third place effort, while rookie Ben Turple and Sarah Vandenburg (Lower Onslow) completed the top five.

Veinotte took home the heat race victory.

Four points is the gap between Veinotte and Chisholm in the closest point battle across the Bay Equipment Rentals Weekly Racing Series in 2024.

In a wild return after their Mid Season Break, the Bluenose Pools Bandoleros saw a first time winner stop in The Tire Man Victory Lane in Ethan Hicken (New Glasgow). Hicken, who had previously won a Beginner feature in Halifax, showcased his talent and impeccable car control en route to his first Bandolero feature win.

Hicken started second and took the lead from Hailey Bland (Lakeview) on Lap Two. Bland, in a new to her Bandolero ride after a crash the weekend prior at Petty Raceway, quickly slipped into a battle for third with Bella Pashkoski (Beaver Bank) for most of the caution free feature. Avery DeCoste (Antigonish) would hold court in second for most of the 15-lap race with Pashkoski joining Hicken and DeCoste on the podium. Bland and Bristol Matthews (Nine Mile River) completed the top five.

Pashkoski took home the heat win, one that saw a spectacular wreck that saw Matthews roll over her car and Lily Whynot (Dartmouth) launch over the back straight wall. Both drivers were ok and walked away under their own power.

DeCoste extended their point lead to 10 points after nine races.

Steve Matthews (Bedford) returned to a familiar place on Friday night as he took home the 25-lap Toursec Mini Stock feature win. For Matthews, it was his second feature win of the season in Halifax but first on the Bay Equipment Rentals Weekly Racing Series.

Matthews started 11th in the 27 car field, made a daring three wide outside pass on Dave Jollimore (Halifax) and Tyler Hallahan (Elmsdale) to take second on Lap 13 and chased down Chevy MacDonald (Stewiacke), ultimately clearing the No. 80 on Lap 20. Matthjews would race from there to the win in a caution free affair over MacDonald and Ross Moore (Lake Egmont), who got the final podium position from Hallahan in the late laps. Darren Hodder (Mount Uniacke) was awarded fifth following the No. 45 car driven by Travis Keefe failed post race technical inspection.

Jollimore, Moore and Kenny Hopper took home heat race wins.

With his eight straight podium to kick off the season, Moore has extended his point lead to 64 over Hodder and 96 over Chris McMullin in third after eight races.

A quick paced return to the Speedworld for the Strictly Hydraulics Legend saw a familiar face park it in The Tire Man Victory Lane!

Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction) took home his fourth feature win at Scotia Speedworld on Friday night. Starting ninth, Christensen made the winning pass on Nathan Langille (Coldbrook) by the completion of nine laps, even before the first caution flew on Lap 13. The final restart of the night came with five laps to go and Christensen was able to glide his Mark Nahrstedt Race Car to victory from there.

Behind Christensen, Caden Tufts (Timberlea) and Chase MacKay (Bear Cove), both of whom are building solid seasons in the shadows of the No. 24, rounded out the podium and pulled away from the field on the final restart. Josh Langille (Coldbrook) was fourth while Campbell Delaney (Halifax) was able to slide around Nathan Langille for the final top five spot in the 19 car field.

Leading Tim Hortons at the Airport Rookie Jared Slaunwhite (Terence Bay), Nathan Langille and MacKay took home heat wins.

Christensen goes into the off-week for the Friday night Legend program with a 52 point lead over Tufts after nine races.

Heat 2: 66 51 14 94 44 85 92

For a fourth time during the Bay Equipment Rentals Weekly Racing Series, and a fifth time at Scotia Speedworld on the 2024 season, Deven Smith (Lakeside) took home a Sportsman feature at his home track.

On paper, the win might be a bit less eventful than others this year. Deven held the lead on the final restart with 22 to go and drove off into the night for the victory. The No. 94 Shoreline Cannabis and Trading Post Chevrolet started eight in the 15 car field and was to the lead around Darren Wallage (Oakfield) by the completion of Lap 15.

Point leader Russell Smith Sr. (Lakeside) was second in the race but he had to go to work in the final stanza, passing both Dylan Dowe (Bedford) and Wallage within the final 15 laps. By the time Russell Sr got by Wallage, Deven was gone by a full straightaway with eight laps to go. Dowe looked at Wallage in the late laps but could not solve the Blairs Custom Metals car for the final podium spot. Darren Hilchie (Lake Charlotte) freed himself from the battle behind to close in on the top three battle but had to settle for fifth at the checkered flag.

Wallage and Jeffrey Breen (Antigonish) took home heat wins. Russell Sr. takes a 36 point lead over Alex Johnson (Enfield) heading into the Superior Foundations 100.
