Bristol Matthews (Nine Mile River) took control early in the Maritime Auto Glass Beginner Bandolero feature, sending a strong statement to the field that she will be one to contend with heading into the championship stretch of the 2023 season.

Matthews started fifth in the 12-lap feature but an opening lap caution moved her to fourth on the first restart of the feature. The Mini Mystery Machine would move past Shelby Chisholm (Antigonish) on the third lap and would not look back en route to victory lane. Chisholm would close on Matthews throughout the feature, including on a restart with three laps to go, but could not set up the No. 99 for a winning pass.

Chisholm was second with Emma MacMillan (Maitland) back on the podium for a fourth consecutive week on a last lap pass on McKenna Little (Williamswood). Fifth in the feature was Irelyn Rose (Halifax).

Matthews took home the heat win and will carry the point lead into Bay Equipment Rentals Night.

After winning the Beginner championship the year prior, Hailey Bland (Lakeview) finally notched her first win in the Maritime Auto Glass Bandolero division. Bland started on the outside pole and chased fellow Beginner graduate Ethan Hicken (New Glasgow) for the first 12 laps before making an inside pass in Turn One on the No. 5. Daniel Vandenburg (Lower Onslow) challenged Bland before she made the winning pass on Hicken. When Vandenburg made the move on Hicken on the final lap, it opened the door for Brett Pashkoski (Beaver Bank) to make it three wide for the runner up spot – sealing the win for Bland.

Vandenburg emerged from the three wide move on the back straight with second with Hicken hanging on for a podium finish. Landon Pierce (Bridgewater) and Avery DeCoste (Antigonish) would get by a spinning Pashkoski for fourth and fifth at the finish.

Hicken picked up the heat win.

Vandenburg extended his point lead and now sits a comfortable 30 points up on the field with two full point races and the Halifax 300 remaining.

Aaron Boutilier (Porters Lake) was not going to be denied for his first Toursec Mini Stock win on Friday night, even if it meant some paint swapping with one of the best to strap into a Neon in Halifax!

Boutilier started on the pole in the Kyle Sinton No. 8 car while Steven Matthews (Bedford) started 11th in the No. 198 Cora’s Bedford Dodge. Several yellows in the mid-portion of the race would tighten the field with the final one coming with eight laps to go. Matthews worked his way to fifth for that restart, got by then second place driver Chad Sinton (Truro) with five laps to go and chased down Boutilier to dance with him with three laps to go. Matthews took to the inside and then to the outside of the No. 8 and the two battled hard for the final two laps with Boutilier holding on for the win by a bumper at the finish!

Sinton joined Boutilier and Matthews on the podium with point leader Ross Moore (Lake Egmont) fourth and Dave Jollimore (Halifax) in fifth in the 25-lap feature.

Boutilier and Dylan MacMillan (Maitland) took home heat race victories on Maritime Auto Glass Night.

Moore still enjoys a comfortable lead in class heading into the Toursec 50 on Friday night.

It is hard to stop Danny Chisholm (Canning) when he gets on a roll in a Legend car.

Coming off two Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour victories in Geary, New Brunswick the week prior, Chisholm made a late decision to compete at Scotia Speedworld on Friday pay off for a win.

Chisholm started 10th in the 25-lap feature and took the lead on Lap 22, but it was a caution on the white flag lap that set up a green-white-checkered finish for the win. An accordian between the top five cars the lap prior, unrelated to the caution, scattered the top five cars in Turn Four and set up a frantic two lap dash. Chisholm would control the restart with Gage Gilby (Enfield) and Josh Langille (Coldbrook) able to get by for podium finishes. Fourth belonged to Tim Hortons at the Airport Rookie Contender Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction) while Caden Tufts (Timberlea), who led the most laps, finished fifth.

Heat races were won by Aiden MacDonald (York, PE), Tufts and Gilby.

Gilby will take a 10 point lead into Finale Friday over Christensen.

Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro) proved why he is one of the most versatile drivers ever to race in the Maritimes as the reigning Summer Clash 250 champion went to victory lane Friday in the 38-lap Bay Equipment Rentals Late Model Sportsman feature.
Blenkhorn raced in a last minute relief role for Dylan Dowe (Bedford) and wasted little time putting the No. 51 PPM Inc. Chevrolet to the front. Blenkhorn entered the top five on Lap 13 while Scott O’Neill (Oakfield) and Matt Moore (Falmouth) battled for the lead. As the field came up on Matthew Barkhouse (Dartmotuh) to put the rookie one lap down, Blenkhorn was able to leap to second on Lap 24 around the outside of O’Neill. Moore was able to get away and build an advantage but a caution with nine laps remaining would erase that gap.

Moore would race to the inside of Blenkhorn and would spin in Turn Three on the restart after hard racing between the two. Blenkhorn would hold the lead from there to take home his first Sportsman win in his first Sportsman start at Scotia Speedworld in 2023. Pete Miller (Kennetcook) and Alex Johnson (Enfield) joined the 2019 East Coast International Pro Stock Tour Champion on the podium. Point leader Jesse Deveau (Greenwood) was fourth with fellow Valley boy Kyle Bent (Berwick) in fifth.

O’Neill and Blenkhorn took heat wins.

Deveau’s lead is nine points as the Bay Equipment Rentals Late Model Sportsman go into their final two Friday nights of racing for the 2023 season.
