It might officially be a new name to the division, but it is still the same front runners pacing the field.
Dave Matthews was able to hold off Jamie Dillman as the inaugural winner of the Toursec Mini Stock division. The class was amalgamated in the off-season combining select Thunder car competitors with the Lightning class. Ross Moore looked poised to take a feature victory early in the night but had to settle for a close third after holding off Truro’s Chad Sinton. Sophomore driver Chris McMullin, in a Bobby Labonte throwback scheme, completed the top five.
Nineteen drivers began the night of racing with Matthews, Moore and Travis Keefe picking up heat wins. Keefe was a contender during the feature before he lost a wheel in Turn Four, ultimately ending his night eight laps shy of the finish.
The Toursec Mini Stocks return to action on June 9th for the return of the Thunder on the Hill 100.

Josh Langille is finally a Legend car winner at Scotia Speedworld.
The 2017 Bandolero Champion threw his name into the ring as a championship contender Friday evening by holding off rookie Ayden Christensen for his first Legend car victory. The battle came down a restart in the late laps with Christensen putting the pressure on the No. 18 Scotia Wealth Management Legend as the two raced for the checkered. The top eight in Friday’s 25-lap feature were all former Bandolero graduates with Colton Noble, Chase MacKay, Nathan Langille, Nate Singer, Devin Wadden and Dawson Noble each racing to a top ten finish.
The top three in the feature event were also heat race winners with Christensen, Josh Langille and Colton Noble each taking the checkered flag first in their respective qualifiers. Christensen was the top Tim Hortons at the Airport Rookie in the field between six freshmen on track.
The Legends return Friday evening during Pepsi Night.

What looked like a calm, caution free race for the Bay Rentals Late Model Sportsman got turned on its head in the second half.
All the action though happened behind Alex Johnson though, who picked up his first victory of the season in a new to him racecar.
After acquiring a car from Dale Richardson, the No. 14 Celtic Air Services Chevrolet team spent little time getting down to business in the season opener. Johnson won his heat and was in firm control for the duration of the 38-lap feature on Friday night. Behind Johnson, several in the field got up close and personal with each other with several front runners, including heat winner Dylan Dowe and Andrew Lively getting shown the rear due to separate incidents in the late laps of the feature.
Kyle Bent started his sophomore season with a runner-up finish to Johnson in the feature. Pete Miller rallied to capture third on opening night. Darren Hilchie and Brentley Pirri completed the top five of the 14 cars that started on Friday evening.
Johnson will take the early point lead on the season as the Bay Rentals Late Model Sportsman return to action Friday night during Pepsi Night.
