Feature competition at Fanfest began with a very popular first time win!
Bristol Matthews (Nine Mile River) started her Fanfest with a win in her heat, the second week in a row she was able to do so. For the first time in her career, she picked up a feature win and had to hold off some stout competition to do so!
Matthews battled with Hudson Ruff (Long Reach, NB), pulling side by side with the No. 83 with three laps to go. Ruff would spin in Turn Three, setting up one last restart.
Matthews got a great launch and was able to hold on over a hard charging Shelby Chisholm (Antigonish) for her first feature victory. It was an all female top four as point leader McKenna Little (Williamswood) was third and Emma MacMillan (Maitland) in fourth for her first top five of the season. Ruff would recover to finish fifth.
Ruff and Matthews took home heat race wins in the Maritime Auto Glass Beginner Bandolero class. Little maintains the point lead but only has a four point advantage on Matthews after four events.
The Beginners have their first off-week of the season on Friday and return as a part of the undercard of the 28th Shriners Classic on July 7th.

Brett Pashkoski (Beaver Bank) had found a couple ways to lose a race in the first two weeks of Maritime Auto Glass Bandolero competition. The third time was the charm though as he put it all together for his first career Bandolero victory at the Speedworld.
After a slow start for two cautions on the first lap, Pashkoski was able to set sail over a 15-lap run to capture his first feature victory after leading the most laps in feature competition this season in the class.
Pashkoski’s win came by a third of a straightaway over Landon Pierce (Bridgewater). Daniel Vandenburg (Lower Onslow), who got some cosmetic damage from one of the Lap One incidents, was third. Ethan Hicken (New Glasgow) was fourth entering the final set of corners but a spin coming to the checkered flag saw Hailey Bland (Lakeview) and Avery DeCoste (Antigonish) sneak by for top five finishes.
Vandenburg took home the heat race win.
Pashkoski takes the point lead by two points over Vandenburg heading into Round Four on Friday night.

Four races and now four different winners in the Toursec Mini Stocks.
It was only a matter of time before Ross Moore (Lake Egmont) added his name to the list of winners this season. Moore, who hasn’t been to victory lane in feature competition in quite some time, put his new car to the front on Lap 11 after starting fifth in the feature. Moore took the lead from Dylan MacMillan (Maitland), who continues to lead laps early in feature competition, but was shuffled back later to finish eighth.
A restart with 11 laps to go brought Moore back to the field but Moore held off his peers on the run to the finish. Chris McMullin (Shubenacadie) scored a convincing second place run with 2022 Lightning champion Colin Matthews (Dartmouth) taking home his first podium of the year in third.
Kyle Sinton (Truro) was fourth and a returning Jason Pickles (Meaghers Grant) was the highest finishing Honda in fifth.
MacMillan and Moore took home heat race victories.
With his two win evening, Moore takes a 27 point lead over Chad Sinton (Truro) after four races.
The Toursec Mini Stocks are back in action Friday for The Laker News Night.

Gage Gilby (Enfield) is hard to stop once he gets rolling.
The INEX Winter Nationals Young Lions champion went back-to-back with his second consecutive feature win in the Strictly Hydraulics Legends division.
Gilby started 12th in the 25 car field and worked his way up to the front quickly. The No. 25 CKG Elevator Legend made it to second place as the field took the halfway point in the 25-lap feature and a caution for a spinning Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction) on Lap 13 brought then leader Chase MacKay (Bear Cove) back to the field. Gilby found the inside of the No. 71 on Lap 18 and held on for the final laps to take home the victory.
MacKay was second, followed by Owen Mahar (Hubley). Mahar had Chase Livingston (Springhill) looking for third on the final lap, but the Tim Hortons at the Airport Rookie contender would spin in the final corner.
Josh Langille (Coldbrook) recovered from a subpar INEX National Qualifier for fourth on Fanfest with Devin Wadden (Hammonds Plains) holding on to fifth over a determined Dawson Noble (Upper Nine Mile River).
Mahar, MacKay and Gilby captured qualifying heat race wins.
The Strictly Hydraulics Legends return to racing this Friday night during The Laker News Night.

After some exciting racing the week prior and one night shy of the Maritime All Stars Series pulling into town, the Bay Equipment Rentals Late Model Sportsman emerged with a first time winner to cap Fanfest.
The final restart of the 38-lap feature happened with 16 laps remaining. Scott O’Neill (Oakfield) had led the opening laps but it was Jesse Deveau (Greenwood) who took advantage after starting fourth in the 16-car field. Deveau built a lead, but a hard charging Pete Miller (Kennetcook) was closing fast.
Miller passed O’Neill for second with six laps to go and worked to the back of Deveau as the final laps closed. Deveau went wide in Turn Four on the final lap, opening the door for Miller but Pete could not get by the No. 31 Bowlby Paving/K&J Truck Centre Chevrolet before the line.
Darren Hilchie (Lake Charlotte) got by O’Neill late for third with Dylan Dowe (Bedford) and O’Neill completing the top five.
O’Neill and Joey Livingstone (Pictou Landing) took heat wins on Fanfest.
Hilchie takes the point lead but the next six are hot on his bumper with only 22 points separating the top seven after three events for the Bay Equipment Rentals Late Model Sportsman division.
