Sunbelt Rentals and Maritime AllStar Series on Tap for Scotia Speedworld this weekend

(HALIFAX, NS – July 11, 2022) – It’s a double header weekend at Scotia Speedworld! Friday night at 7:00pm the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series continues with all divisions on the racing card for Sunbelt Rentals night (formerly MacFarlands). Saturday the Maritime AllStar Sportsman Series will make its first appearance at the track for the York 100 presented by Master Group. The series features a who’s who of Sportsman drivers from across the Maritimes. Racing gets underway at 4:00pm on Saturday.

The CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series is nearing the halfway point and the battles both on track and in the championship point standings are hitting a fever pitch after six events. The spotlight division on Friday is the Sunbelt Rentals Bandoleros. Split into two classes, the Outlaws and Beginners, these kids are the future of the sport with Speedworld alumni going on to win at the highest levels of short track racing. Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction, NS) sits at the head of the table in Sunbelt Rentals Bandolero Outlaw competition after six races while a third feature win last Friday by Hailey Bland (Lakeview, NS) has her leading the newcomers in the Sunbelt Rentals Beginner Bandolero field.

Fans will be entertained by the edge of their seat action from the Fleet Brake Atlantic Late Model Sportsman, Strictly Hydraulics and Industrial Supply Legends and Toursec Thunder and Lightning along with the Sunbelt Rentals Bandoleros. The Fleet Brake Atlantic Late Model Sportsman boasts the biggest Late Model field of any regular point racing track in the Maritimes with 15 full-time teams competing weekly, several of whom will look to defend their home turf on Saturday afternoon in the York 100.

The Maritime AllStar Series has a killer line-up of registered drivers on the entry list for the York 100. Scheduled to be in the field are racing legend Frank Fraser, former Pro Stock Tour Champion Dylan Blenkhorn and multi-time Shriners Classic winner Deven Smith, just to name a few. Admission for the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series and the York 100 are both $20 for adults, $5 for youth (8-15yrs), children seven and under are free all season at Scotia Speedworld! Scotia Speedworld (SSW) is a 3/10-mile asphalt oval racing facility. SSW is the only track in Nova Scotia to host a weekly racing series, which runs May through September and features five different classes of racecars.
