HYDRAULICS PLUS BANDOLEROS

OUTLAWS

After the first four races in the class produced four different winners in the Hydraulics Plus Bandolero Outlaw division, it was Danny Chisholm (Canning) that evened the score with Nathan Langille (Coldbrook) and Owen Mahar (Hubley) with two feature wins. Chisholm won the Outlaw main event on CTV Night, making the winning move on Dylan Dowe (Bedford) on Lap Four. Langille and reigning division champion Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River) followed Chisholm to the stripe in the 15-lap feature. Mahar and Dowe completed the top five.

Langille took home the heat race victory.

BANDITS

While the story of the season has been Gage Gilby (Enfield), Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction) was quick to remind the Hydraulics Plus Bandolero Bandit division that he came to play in the second half of 2019.

Christensen drove to the Bandit victory, his second of the season. Christensen had Gilby chasing him at the end with Chase Mackay (Bear Cove) shadowing Gilby in the waning laps for the runner up spot. Morgan Mosher (Mahone Bay) and Brooke Dowe (Bedford) rounded out the top five.

Christensen swept the night by winning the heat.

BEGINNER

Caden Tufts (Timberlea) was able to answer the call to victory lane on Friday evening, picking up his first career feature win at his home race track during CTV Night. Tufts raced to his first win over Tim Hortons at the Airport Rookie Chase Livingston (Springhill), who recorded the first podium finish of his young career. Campbell Delaney, who ran second for most of the feature, edged out third over Emily Chisholm (Antigonish) after the No. 9 car began to lose power on the last lap. Miles MacKenzie (Porter’s Lake) finished in fifth in the 15-lap feature.

Chisholm, who picked up the heat race victory, will exit CTV Night with the Beginner Bandolero point lead heading into their off-week.

STRICTLY HYDRAULICS LEGENDS

When all the dust and sparks settled, Braden Langille (Shubenacadie) emerged as the winner of the Strictly Hydraulics Legends feature on CTV Night. For Langille, it was his third win on the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series of the season. Langille used early cautions combined with raw speed at the end to take home the victory after making the winning pass on Tylor Hawes (Porter’s Lake). Hawes and Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville) finished second and third, respectively, with each marking the first time they’ve finished on a Friday night podium of the year. Paul Goulden (Shelburne), who ran in the top three for most of the evening, missed the podium by one spot with a fourth place finish. Nathan Blackburn (Timberlea) completed the top five.

Dylan Sutherland (Beaver Bank) and Goulden took home heat wins.

The championship point standings got turned on their head after point leader Emily Meehan (Rawdon) and Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour regular Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth) exchanged contact throughout the heat and feature on Friday. Meehan’s night came to a close after she and Jeff Cruickshank (Hantsport) came together. The 17th place finish dropped Meehan from the point lead to fifth after CTV Night. Lively will enter CNAF Night with the point lead.

TOURSEC LIGHTNING

For the second straight race, it was Miller time in Toursec Lightning victory lane.

Steve Matthews (Bedford) had to hold off the field on a restart with three laps to go to lock down his second consecutive feature win. The reigning track champion was pressured at the end by three-time 2019 winner “Rational” Richard Drake (Halifax) with Chevy MacDonald (Stewiacke) racing into the final podium spot. David Jollimore (Halifax) came home in fourth with Bruce Larter (Halifax) in fifth.

Marshall Bezanson (Oldham) and Matthew Barkhouse (Dartmouth) took home heat race wins. Barkhouse was the point leader entering CTV Night, but failed to finish the race after a wheel broke off the Hellkitty with three laps to go.

TOURSEC THUNDER

Tim Webster (Beaver Bank) made his return to the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series a good one by taking home the 25-lap Toursec Thunder feature on Friday evening. Webster, a former multi-time track champion and 2017 Passione Flooring & Interiors East Coast Mini Stock Tour champion, had to hold off Jesse Deveau (Greenwood) for the win. Deveau pressured Webster for the victory but couldn’t muster enough of a challenge to take the win away from Webster. Dave Matthews (Kennetcook) was pressured by Neil Miousse (Kentville) late but held off the No. 71 to grab the third place trophy. Greg McKay (Eastern Passage) not only took home the heat race win for the second straight week but was able to nab his first top five feature finish of the year by finishing fifth.

Matthews extended the point lead by one point over Deveau following CTV Night.
