Molson Night Up Next For CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series
(Halifax, NS. September 6, 2017) Just two races remain on the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series 2018 season. Championship points will be top of mind for all competitors on Molson Night this Friday. All divisions will be featured including; the Toursec Thunder & Lightning, Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros, Affordable Fuels Sportsman and the Strictly Hydraulics Legends. Admission is just $15.00 for Adults; Youth (8-15) are $5.00 and children 7 and under are free! Tickets are available at the gate on race day (cash only). Grandstand gates open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00 PM.
With two races to go, the focus will be on the championship as all of Scotia Speedworld’s CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series divisions. For some point leaders, like Hydraulics Plus Bandolero leaders Gage Gilby (Enfield – Beginner), Owen Mahar (Hubley – Bandit) and Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River – Outlaw) and Toursec Lightning leader Steve Matthews (Bedford), they find themselves with manageable leads with two races remaining on the schedule. Jordan Veinotte (Porter’s Lake) has a hard charging Matt Vaughan (Bedford) sitting 18 points back in a replay of the 2017 Affordable Fuels Sportsman battle.
Four drivers, including Emily Meehan (Rawdon), reigning titlist Paul Goulden (Shelburne), former Bandolero Champion Shelby Baker (Fall River) and sophomore Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville) find themselves in a four way battle for the Strictly Hydraulics Legends championship and return to competition after a week off.
The closest point battle is between the Toursec Thunder division drivers with Jesse Deveau (Greenwood) leading defending champion Dave Matthews (Kennetcook) and Darren Flemming (Belnan). The trio have swapped positions in the standings virtually every week and find themselves separated by just seven points with Deveau getting the upper hand during Fleet Brake Atlantic Night.
NASCAR Peak Antifreeze iRacing Series (NPAiS) rookie sensation Keegan Leahy will visit Scotia Speedworld on Friday evening. The NPAiS is a first of its kind NASCAR sanctioned eSpots Series that features 40 of the top iRacing oval drivers competing over 18 rounds for their shot at the $10,000 champion’s payday and a trip to the NASCAR season finale at the Homestead Miami Speedway to collect his winnings. Leahy is one of only four Canadian drivers eligible to compete in NPAiS in 2018 and is the only one to qualify for the playoffs in the Series. The Nova Scotian and Dalhousie University student has won three of the 14 rounds so far and finds himself fourth in the standings after one playoff round. Fans will be able to meet Leahy on Friday evening, learn more about iRacing.com along with grab a free membership for new subscribers to the platform and wish him well on his quest to become the first Canadian to win the NPAiS crown.
Scheduled to join Tim Terry in the skybox on the call of Molson Night is 2017 Petty International Raceway Street Stock champion Logan Power (Riverview, NB). In addition to Power being one of the top young talents within the region, he has taken in many CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series events this season at Scotia Speedworld and will be able to provide his take from both sides of the fence.
