INEX Night Presented by Strictly Hydraulics up Next at Scotia Speedworld

(HALIFAX, NS - August 14th, 2018) – The CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series heads into the homestretch of the 2018 season Friday with INEX Night presented by Strictly Hydraulics. Three divisions will see extended distance features, the Hydraulics Plus Beginner Bandoleros will run a 20 lap feature and Bandit & Outlaw Bandoleros will have a 25 lap main event. The Strictly Hydraulics Legends will race a 50 lap feature. The Toursec Lightning and Affordable Fuels Sportsman are also on the racing card Friday evening.

For those not familiar, INEX is the International Sanctioning body of Legend and Bandolero cars. INEX was developed to promote and organize Legend and Bandolero car racing worldwide.

For Legends, Strictly Hydraulics Night serves as a regional qualifier for INEX Asphalt Nationals. The top finishing INEX Pro, Master, Semi-Pro and Young Lion driver in the Strictly Hydraulics 50 will become eligible for a provisional starting spot in Asphalt Nationals. This year, the oval finale for Legend cars will be held at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, October 27th. Dartmouth, Nova Scotia’s Nicholas Naugle is the reigning champion of the Asphalt Nationals Semi-Pro event after taking the big win at The Bullring in October 2017.

For Bandoleros, Strictly Hydraulics Night serves as a qualifier race towards their International Point Series. INEX members accumulate points at INEX sanctioned feature events throughout the season. A Bandolero driver’s best nineteen finishes plus their best qualifier counts towards their International Point standing. Currently, Friday night’s Strictly Hydraulics Night is the only INEX Bandolero Qualifier race in the Maritimes for 2018.

With Friday having an impact on International Points, the drivers in the Strictly Hydraulics Legends and Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros are also racing for valuable championship points towards track championships.

Emily Meehan (Rawdon) holds on to the Strictly Hydraulics Legends point lead after eight races by three points over Shelby Baker (Fall River). Meehan has three feature wins this season while Baker’s one win combined with strong qualifying efforts have made the championship race a tight one heading into the final month of the season. Paul Goulden (Shelburne), reigning track champion, sits 19 points out of Meehan in third. Sophomore Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville) and most recent feature winner Tylor Hawes (Porter’s Lake) complete the top five in the standings.

Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River) has the edge in the Hydraulics Plus Bandolero Outlaw standings by a single point over former champion Josh Langille (Coldbrook). The top five are tight with Danny Chisholm (Canning), Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow) and Nate Singer (Kennetcook) all within 16 points of each other after six races this season. Of note, Chisholm competed at INEX Bandolero Nationals at Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC) last weekend, scoring two heat wins before an accident took him out of contention early in last Saturday’s feature at CMS.

Owen Mahar (Hubley) leads the Hydraulics Plus Bandolero Bandit standings by 19 over Brooke Dowe (Bedford) and Morgan Mosher (Mahone Bay), but will not be in the seat of his car Friday. Mahar will hand the wheel over to Freshwater, Newfoundland’s Austin Hiscock for the night. Hiscock is a second year driver at Eastbound Park in Avondale, NL and was the 2017 winner of the TCM Most Popular Driver Award in Atlantic Canada.

Emma MacMillan (Glenholme) stunned the Hydraulics Plus Beginner Bandolero division with her first career victory the last time out. Gage Gilby (Enfield) leads the standings in the Beginner division by 14 points over Chase MacKay (Bear Cove) and by 19 over Dawson Noble (Upper Nine Mile River) after six races.

Admission for the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series is $15 for adults, $5 for youth (8-15yrs), children seven and under are free all season at Scotia Speedworld!
