THUNDER & LIGHTNING TWIN 50’S ON DECK FOR WEEKLY RACING SERIES
(Halifax, NS. July 15, 2014) The Thunder & Lightning cars will take centre stage at Scotia Speedworld this week as they do battle for 50 grueling laps in the ACE Lumbermart Twin 50’s! Also racing under the lights this week will be; the Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros and the Coors Light Trucks. Admission for the Ace Lumbermart Twin 50’s is just $12.00 for Adults; Youth (8-15) are $2.00 and children 7 and under are free…all summer long! Tickets are available at the gate on race day. Grandstand gates open at 5:00 PM with racing action slated to get underway at 7:00 PM.
Dave Matthews (Kennetcook) enters Friday’s event as the point leader in the Thunder division on the strength of four consecutive second place finishes. Matthew’s closest rival is defending champion Matthew Warren (White’s Lake). Warren won his heat and the main feature last Friday and has moved to within four points of Matthews. Tim Webster (Beaverbank), Stevie Lively (Shubenacadie) and Brandon Watson (Windsor Junction) complete the top five in points respectively and are all still in hunt for the championship.
The Lightning division has produced five different feature winners in five events. Deven Smith (Lakeside) joined Richard Patrick (Halifax), Scott Thibodeau (Williamswood), Mike Brown (Urbania) and rookie Steve Matthews (Halifax) on the feature winner list last Friday. Patrick leads Thibodeau, a former Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman Series Rookie of the Year, by just two points heading into their marquee race of the year.
In the support classes, Adam Meehan (Rawdon) finds himself tied atop the point standings in the Hydraulics Plus Bandolero class with Cole Tanner (Shubenacadie). Tanner won his third feature of the season last week, while Meehan wrecked in the late laps.
Dan Smith (Lower Sackville) continues his quest for a third Coors Light Truck title Friday, with Matt Vaughan (Lake Fletcher), Cy Harvey (Elmsdale) and Cory Leonard (Halifax) all within a dozen points of Smith heading into their 25-lap feature this Friday.
