(Halifax, NS – April 27, 2016) - Scotia Speedworld is pleased to announce a new marketing partnership with Toursec. Toursec, the security provider for Scotia Speedworld for many seasons, will become the title sponsor of the popular four cylinder Thunder and Lightning classes at the 3/10-mile oval.

Billed as “the BEST Four Cylinder Drivers in Atlantic Canada,” the Toursec Thunder division provides some of the most exciting, door to door short track racing fans will see anywhere in the region.  Priding themselves on close but clean racing, the Toursec Thunder division will leave the novice and diehard racing fan alike on the edge of their seat every lap. Last season, brothers Andrew and Matthew Warren (White’s Lake) teamed up to race to the championship over multi-time titlist Dave Matthews (Kennetcook), edging Matthews by just two points.

The Toursec Lightning is the entry level division of full bodied race cars at Scotia Speedworld. While it may be the first rung in the Weekly Racing Series ladder, the four cylinder stars put on an exciting show from green flag to checkered flag under the Friday night lights. In 2015, Deven Smith (Lakeside) became the third Smith brother to win a Toursec Lightning championship by outdueling Scott Thibodeau (Williamswood) for the title. With a mix of veterans and new blood in the division, fans are sure to see a hard fought battle all season long.

The Toursec Thunder and Lightning divisions contest 25-lap features on Friday nights throughout the season at Scotia Speedworld. The divisions will each have an extended 50-lap event as a part of Toursec Twin 50s night on Friday, July 15th. Both divisions will also have a chance to showcase their racing product during the undercard of Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour events. The Toursec Lightning division will be a part of the Nova Truck Centre 150 festivities on Saturday, June 18th while the Toursec Thunder drivers will be racing as the appetizer for the 17th Annual Atlantic Cat 250 on Saturday, August 13th.

Also new for the Thunder & Lightning divisions is the Bill Jones Hard Charger Award set up in memory of Mr. Jones who was a long time avid racer. $25 will be paid to the competitor who gains the most positions at the conclusion of each feature for both divisions.

The Toursec Thunder and Lightning classes will open the season alongside the rest of the Scotia Speedworld Weekly Racing Series divisions on Sunday, May 22nd at 2pm.
