Bring Your Monster Jam Ticket Stub and Catch the Weekly Racing Series
for Just $5

(Halifax, NS. June 1, 2016) Scotia Speedworld’s Weekly Racing Series returns to its usual Friday night at 7:00pm timeslot this Friday June, 3rd.  Five Weekly Racing Series divisions will see action on the oval this Friday. Adult tickets are $14.00; Youth tickets (8-15 years) are just $4.00 and children 7 and under are admitted for FREE all season at Scotia Speedworld! If you attended Monster Jam last weekend present your ticket stub at the front gates and receive $5.00 admission! (Valid Friday, June 3rd only. Grandstands only, not upgradable to pits)

The evening’s festivities will kick off with a 25-lap Coors Light Truck main feature. The feature was scheduled to run on Sunday, May 22nd but was postponed due to rain setting in after the heat races. With their already scheduled feature for June 3rd also on the bill, it is a big night for the convoy of the Scotia Speedworld Weekly Racing Series. Dan Smith (Lower Sackville) enters 2016 as a four time and defending champion of the division but will have to be on his game to fend off the likes of Jason Fenton (Eastern Passage), Matt Vaughan (Fletcher’s Lake) and Kevin Clark Jr (Goodwood), among others.

The Strictly Hydraulics Legends division is as competitive as ever with a healthy mix of cagey veterans and rising stars set to battle it out Friday. Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake) is the defending track champion in the class but will be challenged by the likes of Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB), Paul Goluden (Shelburne), Emily Meehan (Rawdon) and Danny Harvey (Lantz), all of whom finished last season in the top five in points and are returning this season with championship aspirations. Fans can expect over a dozen drivers in this exciting division to take the green flag on Friday.

With Aaron Boutilier (Porter’s Lake) being the only returning champion in the past ten years to the Affordable Fuels and Metro Home Heating Sportsman division in 2016, one would believe the championship chase is wide open for the taking. Among those returning along with Boutilier include 2015 feature winners Travis Roma (West Chezzetcook) and Fred Schofield (Windsor), who won their first career Sportsman races last season. Pete Miller (Kennetcook) finished in the top five in the point standings in 2015, while Jordan Veinotte (Porter’s Lake), Alex Johnson (Enfield), Brentley Pirri (Three Fathom Harbour) and Richard Salter (Lower Burlington) are among drivers who had top ten championship runs that will return for a shot at the big prize in 2016.

The Toursec Thunder and Lightning divisions bring some of the most exciting racing to the track every Friday evening. Deven Smith (Lakeside) is back to defend his Toursec Lightning championship won in 2015 while the brother combination of Matthew and Andrew Warren (White’s Lake) have scaled back to part time competition, leaving the Toursec Thunder crown open for the taking. Between the two classes, over 30 four cylinder teams showed up to compete on Opening Day in May with a number of teams expected to join them this Friday night.
