DARTMOUTH DODGE 100 – FRASER FLIES TO VICTORY AT SPEEDWORLD

After a rough and tumble opening stint to the Dartmouth Dodge 100, it was Shubenacadie’s Frankie Fraser who settled into a groove in the second half of the event en route to the victory in the marquee race for the Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman Series. Fraser started in fifth aboard the #0 SFR Chevrolet and kept his car out of trouble through the 100-lap duration of the race. Russell Smith Jr (Lakeside) charged from the rear of the pack to finish second with Aaron Boutilier (Porters Lake) coming home in third. Carmen Comeau (Meteghan) put his flat black #92 into fourth at the end of 100-laps around the Speedworld while Kyle Butler (Lake Egmont) completed the top five.

Boutilier, Smith Jr. and Mike Alexander (Cole Harbour) started the night with wins in the Dartmouth Dodge heat races. Twenty-seven cars attempted to qualify for the event. The race was held as a participation point race, meaning Jeff Dillman (Middle Musquodoboit) will maintain the point lead heading into Fan Appreciation Night.

TRUCKS – FENTON TAKES THE VICTORY

In front of the biggest Friday night crowd of the season, nine trucks took the green flag in the popular Scotia Speedworld Truck Class and it was a veteran Speedworld driver who got the glory of taking the checkers around the 3/10-mile oval. Jason Fenton (Eastern Passage) drove his #3 Cutting Edge Construction Chevrolet to the front of the field and held off a charge from point leader Dan Smith (Lower Sackville) to take his second feature win of 2011. JP Arsenault (Church Point) finished third with Ryan Goldsmith (Bridgewater) and Wayne Ritchie (Coldstream) not far behind.

Vernon Brown (Antrim) picked up where he left off last week by picking up the 10-lap heat victory. With his strong night, Smith inches his point lead out to nine markers over Arsenault with just three races left in 2011.
